Buried Within is a rules-light gothic horror fantasy tabletop roleplaying game for 1-6 players and a game master. Players inhabit the roles of supernatural beings who navigate the world under the guise of being human, but each harbour a dark secret: they must feed to survive. The game master realises a world for the player characters to explore and they must adventure through perilous situations whilst balancing their human persona with their bestial truth. Suffering harm makes it increasingly difficult to maintain this fractured personality split, forcing players to make a choice: should they cling on to their rational human side—or let the beast run free?

Buried Within is a monstrous hack of John Harper’s one-page TTRPG, Lasers & Feelings. Its’s a fantastic lesson in game design and very easy to pick up and play. Check it out at https://johnharper.itch.io/lasers-feeling

Please feel free to hack and expand on this, but do credit me, Sam Bell, and include a link to my itch page: sambell.itch.io. The project was originally created for the June 72-hour Ludum Praxi game jam, https://itch.io/jam/ludum-praxi, with the theme: Your Health Bar is more than a Health bar. In this case, your health bar represents your animalistic/bestial tendencies cracking through your human guise as you suffer harm. This provides a rolling target number for the player’s rolls, but also encourages creative role—playing and problem solving, dependent on how injured you are.

Please do reach out if you have any feedback or want to talk TTRPGSs!

Really like the idea of using health as the target number here. Very interesting difference from a "standard" L&F hack that fits the genre well.
